The Tax Director will be responsible for performing tax planning and compliance activities in the assigned tax areas with the objective of minimizing business and income tax; ensuring timely compliance reporting; effectively managing and developing internal tax staff; contracting with and overseeing external tax professionals; effectively managing multiple competing priorities; serving as internal expert to deal directly with customers and tax authorities on tax related matters. Work with outside advisors on preparation and review of all federal, state, and local corporate and partnership income tax, franchise tax and information tax returns. Develop effective, tax strategies to minimize the overall tax burden of Holiday and to minimize overall costs associated with the tax function. Responsible for REIT qualification, REIT testing, and maintenance of REIT status. Develop, evaluate, support,, and document all intercompany pricing between Holiday entities. Manage outsourced real property tax appeals and assessments. Communicate directly with all government auditors and respond to tax issues raised by tax auditors. Responsible for preparation of Fin 48 tax provision for Holiday under U.S. generally accepted accounting principles. Perform due diligence and scope tax exposure for proposed acquisitions and support diligence for acquisitions. Manage outside tax consultants and advisors. Other duties as assigned Qualifications Minimum 10 years of progressively more responsible and successful experience in a similar industry’s corporate tax department and/or a public accounting firm, with a strong knowledge of tax planning, tax compliance and tax return preparation for corporate, partnership, and REIT tax matters. Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) in Accounting/Finance or similar function and a CPA designation required. Strong knowledge of US corporate income and partnership tax legislation; good understanding of REIT qualification matters and REIT/TRS transfer pricing issues; strong understanding of FAS 109 and U.S. GAAP reporting for income taxes. Skill in developing and analyzing tax planning and tax minimization strategies. Ability to effectively manage small tax department of two to four employees. Physical Requirements and Working Environment Sit for long periods of time while performing job duties. Cooperatively operate in a professional office environment which may be noisy or disruptive at times. Routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and fax machines. Work full time, reporting to the Home Office location with typical office hours and additional time as needed. Travel by airplanes, trains and automobiles as needed. May be overnight.
